Rushmore Candy Company
At 13,000 square-feet Rushmore Candy Company is the largest candy store in South Dakota. We came across it in the middle of our recent Black Hills sightseeing adventures. We stopped to shop somewhere between a tour through a Custer State Park tour and Bear Country USA. Rushmore Candy is an attraction of its own. Miles of chocolate, acres of taffy, and skyscrapers of lollipops fill this magical wonderland. Keep reading for a few of the treats you can pop in your shopping cart.
80 Flavors of Taffy
These 80 saltwater taffy flavors aren’t your typical taffy flavors found on the New Jersey boardwalk. Think dill pickle, peanut butter and jelly and butter popcorn. Talk about a treat!
So Many Candy Choices
In addition to Saltwater Taffy there are multiple options of M & Ms, Jelly Belly’s, tubs of cotton candy, and an incredible PEZ offering. Disney Princesses, Smurfs, Harry Potter, and Peppa Pig are just a few that come to mind.
Flat Penny Machine
Rushmore Candy Company has a Penny Pincher machine near the exit. For one penny plus fifty cents and a good arm crank. No matter what you call them (flat, squished, pressed pennies) this a fun and affordable souvenir option. My daughter bought a passport book at Wall Drug to keep her collection of oblong logo flat pennies.
Slinky Ceiling
Sometime between drooling over the chocolate covered nuts and buckets of cotton candy take a look up. The ceiling of slinkies will impress you, too!
Ice Cream Mural
It’s no surprise we were excited to see the sweet-themed murals on the walls of Rushmore Candy Company on the way out. This colorful ice cream mural makes for a beautiful photo op!
